The new World of Hyatt credit card is one of our favorites for Disney vacations. We love it for free stays at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, the Hyatt House Anaheim, and several great options in Hawaii for trips to Aulani. While it has a $95 annual fee, the perks are worth significantly more. In fact, we find them so valuable, we got a second card. Here are the 5 reasons why:
1) Sign Up Bonus Worth $1,200
The sign up bonus on the World of Hyatt Credit Card is worth about $1,200. You get 40,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first three months. You get an additional 20,000 points after spending a total of $6,000 in the first six months.
Each Hyatt point is worth about two cents each, so 60,000 points is worth about $1,200. This is enough points for four free nights at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress and five nights at the Hyatt House in Anaheim.
2) 10,000 Refer a
Friend Spouse Points
In our case, I (Mark) referred my Hyatt card to Erin. Not only will she get the sign up bonus, but I’ll also get 10,000 points for referring her.
Referring your spouse is a great way to earn extra points on a new credit card. If you’re getting the card for the first time, we’d appreciate it if you used our referral link (thanks!). If you’ve already got the card, refer your spouse and earn some extra points.
3) Combine Your Hyatt Points
Lest you think having points in two different Hyatt account would be a pain, you can actually give or receive points from any other Hyatt member for free. You can do this once every 30 days. This makes it easy to combine points in your household for an upcoming reservation.
4) Annual Free Night
On every card member anniversary, you get a free night in a category 1-4 hotel. This includes both the hotels we’ve mentioned in Orlando and Anaheim. The high end, a category 4 hotel, will often cost close to $300 a night after taxes and fees. This is a nice perk for your $95 annual fee.
5) Another Annual Free Night
If you spend $15,000 on the card each year (based on your card member anniversary date), you’ll get another free night in a category 1-4 hotel. This is in addition to all the points you’ll earn.
In our house, we’ll try to hit this on one card and then switch over and use the other until we hit it as well.
The 70,000 points from the sign up bonus and referral points are worth about $1,400. This is worth doing even if we didn’t keep the cards.
But, we’ll plan to keep them and use them. For us, it’s worth it to pay the annual fee for the two free nights. And, we plan to use both cards to earn the additional two free nights plus all the points that will come with it.
Not everyone likes paying annual fees on credit cards, but with the World of Hyatt credit card, the added value is definitely worth it.
