Why You Should Have the Hyatt Card
The Hyatt card is one most people should have, even if you rarely or never use it. On your card member anniversary each year, Hyatt gives you a free night in any category 1-4 hotel. Every Hyatt around Disney World or Disneyland falls into one of those categories. Often, category 4 hotels cost $250 to $300 a night like in the case of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando.
The feature is a trade off for your $75 annual fee. If you’re earning lots of points through a Chase Ultimate Rewards Strategy, you’re probably transferring points to Hyatt for stays periodically. This can be a great way to tack on a free night to your vacation without spending more points.
Plus, the card comes with automatic “Discoverist” status. This is the status you would need to stay 10 nights a year to earn otherwise. While the perks are not significant, it does include upgrades to preferred rooms subject to availability. This can be valuable for a Disney vacation because a preferred room can mean getting a room with a fireworks view.
