If you want to use Korean Air SkyPass miles to fly your family on a partner airline like Delta, you’ll need to create a Family Plan. Unlike other airlines, you can’t just use your miles to book flights for anyone you want. While creating a Family Plan is a bit of a hassle, using SkyPass miles can save you so much that it can definitely be worth the hassle. Here are the step by step instructions on how to add a family member to a Korean Air Family Plan.
This whole process will likely take you about 30 minutes. It took Korean Air about four days to process and approve our application.
Step 1: Create a SkyPass Account for You and Each Family Member
If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create your own SkyPass Account. Then, repeat the step and create one for each family member. It takes 2-3 minutes to create each account. After you’re done, make sure you’re logged into your own account for each of the following steps.
Step 2: Go to the Homepage and Click “Dashboard”
Step 3: Click “My Family”
Step 4: Click “Add a Member”
Step 5: Select “Apply Online”
Step 6: Enter Family Member Info
Step 7: Attach Proof of Relationship
This part could feel a little unnerving to some folks. If you were a little unsure whether you wanted to go to this much trouble, this may be the step in the process that causes you to turn back.
We took a picture of our daughter’s birth certificate for her proof. That worked fine. We submitted a marriage license for our proof. Unfortunately, your documentation is required to have a date of birth on it. Our marriage license did not. They sent us an email saying we’d need to also provide either a driver’s licence or passport for both of us. We took pictures of our passports, attached them, and the next day we were approved.
Step 8: Submit and Wait
The process says it takes 1-2 weeks. But, the entire process for us took 4 days. We got an email letting us know when it was done.
