Our favorite, the Chase Sapphire Preferred can help you save $675 right off the bat. And, Chase waives the annual fee for the first year. Here’s how it works:

UPDATE (9/15/2018): There are reports that Chase is not booking Disney vacations with Ultimate Rewards. We’re looking into it.

Sign Up Bonus

The Chase Sapphire Preferred sign up bonus is worth about $750 toward your Disney vacation. This is a great deal considering the waived annual fee.

It earns 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards after you spend $4,000 in the first three months. You’ll also earn points for those purchases, likely around 4,000 points.

  • After achieving the sign up bonus, you’ll have about 54,000 points, worth $675 toward your Disney vacation.

Here’s how you can use those 54,000 points to save on your Disney vacation:

Chase Travel Center

Chase has their own internal travel agents for people with Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards. You can book travel using the points you’ve earned. This can be done online or over the phone with a travel agent. Most basic travel, like flights and hotels, are available online. But, not Disney vacation packages or Disney park tickets. You have to call a Chase travel agent to book those at 855-234-2542. They will then transfer you to “Cruise and Tour Department” once you tell them you want a Disney Vacation Package or Disney Park tickets.

The Chase travel agent actually books the package or park tickets through the Disney website. So, if you find a deal online you want, they can book it at the same price. Just make sure you tell the agent all the details with any particular promotion you want.

Value of Points

You can always redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards for cash at one cent per point. But, when you use them to book travel through Chase, you get increased value. If you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, the value of each point is 1.25 cents. This is why your 54,000 points are worth $675.

What If You Don’t Have Enough Points

If you don’t have enough points for the full cost of your tickets, hotel, or package, you have a few different payment options. First, you can pay the difference with any Chase credit card. They will not accept a credit card from a competitor. Second, you could pay with a Disney gift card.

This means you could use all your points and then use a discounted Disney gift card strategy to pay the remainder.

What If Disney Offers a Better Deal After You’ve Booked

Disney often puts out discounts that they will let you take advantage of even after you’ve booked. If this happens, and you’ve already fully paid for your trip, Chase will refund you the savings in cash. Even if you paid for the whole vacation package in points, Chase will refund you the difference in cash. If for some reason you’d rather have the points instead of cash, that is not an option.
