The no annual fee Chase Freedom just released the category bonuses for April though June. It’s grocery stores and home improvement stores! This is not only a great opportunity for your normal shopping but also for Disney gift cards.
For every dollar you spend in these category bonuses up to $1,500, you get five Ultimate Rewards. At the very least this is the equivalent of 5% cash back. At most, it’s worth up to 10% toward travel.
Chase Ultimate Rewards
With the no annual fee Chase Freedom, you can redeem Ultimate Rewards for cash. So, the five points you earn per dollar is the equivalent to 5% cash back.
But, if you have one of the Chase Ultimate Rewards cards with an annual fee, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, you can transfer your points to that card and then onto travel partners like Hyatt, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, and United. They can be worth as much as two cents each through these travel partners. This makes the points you earn through the Chase Freedom so valuable that we carry two of them to double our cap each quarter.
Saving on Disney Gift Cards
Grocery stores and home improvement stores are great places to buy Disney gift cards. We especially like grocery stores because most automatically offer 2x fuel points on gift cards. Many run periodic specials for 4x fuel points. Stacking the Chase Freedom bonus points with fuel points can add up to significant savings, especially if you drive a car with a big fuel tank (not my Mazda 2).
The no annual fee Chase Freedom is currently offering a sign up bonus of 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards ($150) after spending $500 in the first three months. If you decide it’s right for you, consider using our referral link to apply. You get the same great deal and we get some points for pointing you in the right direction.
