It was originally announced that the Starwood and Marriott programs would combine under a new award chart on August 1st. Then, the new award chart came out and we learned the Swan and Dolphin would be increasing from 12,000 Starwood points (36,000 Marriott) per night to 50,000 Marriott points and we all died a little bit inside. (Chase selling Disney park tickets with Ultimate Rewards and the new World of Hyatt card has helped the recovery process.)
Marriott has pushed back the merger date to August 18th. This means you have until then to book the Swan and Dolphin, Sheraton Lake Buena Vista, Sheraton Park Anaheim, and Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance at their current lower rates.
By then, you’ll be able to book rooms all the way out to the end of July 2019. So, if you have the points, book before August 18th for your trip in the coming year.
Here’s a post outlining some of the changes if you want to read more.
