You may not spend a lot of time in your room on a Disney vacation. But, after you’ve spent a lot of time together in the parks, it’s nice to have your space. If you’re like me, the last time you squeezed four people into a room at Pop Century was in fact… the last time. A family room at Sheraton Lake Buena Vista may be just what you need.
You can book a family room for between 4,500 and 5,500 Starwood points per night.
This strategy is part of our Top 10 favorite ways to save on Disney World vacations. Check out the others to find the one right for you.
The family rooms at Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort are all over 500 square feet. The bedroom is separate from the living area (read: you can shut the door on the kids). Some rooms have a King bed, others are two doubles. The living area has either a sofa bed or sofa bed and bunk beds.
The family rooms have both a pool view and a balcony. The pools are probably the highlight of the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista, so this is a pretty good perk.
Booking a Family Room
A family room can only be booked on points by calling Starwood at 1-888-625-4988. The rooms cost 4,500 points Friday and Saturday nights. They cost 5,500 points Sunday through Thursday nights.
It’s worth noting that they will still charge you that ridiculous $24 per night resort fee. (We hate resort fees.)
Based on our sample bookings, a family room at Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort costs $220 on average. We value Starwood points at about 2.4 cents each. However, in this case, you’d be getting about 4.2 cents per point. That is staggering value.
A week in a family room would save you about $1,540 on your Disney vacation and only cost you 36,500 points.
Stay on Points
The Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card is offering 100,000 points after spending $5,000 in the first three months. This is worth 33,333 Starwood points, which are easily transferred. That’s enough points to stay at the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista for quite a long time.
