Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim-Main Gate Area
This is our very favorite hotel for larger families at either Disney World or Disneyland. You can get a two queen, one bedroom suite with a sofa bed, full kitchen, complimentary grocery service, and free hot breakfast! If you have a larger family (sleeps up to six), the free breakfast plus the convenience to easily make meals in your room could save you hundreds of dollars on your trip!
It should be mentioned, that while the hotel title might indicate this property is close enough to walk, it’s probably not for most families. It’s a little more than 1.5 miles from the promenade, so most families will want to take the $5 shuttle or drive.
The Homewood Suites, which is actually located in Garden Grove, is part of Hilton Worldwide and a points program called Hilton HHonors. Like most hotel chains, Hilton offers a tiered rewards program, where, by and large, more expensive properties require more points per night. In this case, the Homewood Suites is a Category 5 which ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 points and this property is running 30,000 points per night for eight of the twelve months this year. (March, April, June, and July are 40,000)

What to Do
During most months this year, this Homewood Suites is running 30,000 points per night. With this card and the gold status you’ll receive, you get your fifth night free. To get five free nights, you’ll need 120,000 points. So, how do you get the 120,000 points and book your stay on points? Here are the steps:
- Apply for the Hilton HHonors Surpass Credit Card from American Express
- After spending $3,000 in the first three months, you’ll receive 100,000 points (plus the points you earned by spending $3,000)
- Use the card for everyday purchases. If you’re like us and you average about four Hilton HHonors points per dollar on your day to day spending, you’ll earn somewhere around an additional 45,000 points after spending a total of $5,000 on your card (a total of 120,000 points with the sign up bonus).
- Click “Advanced Search” when you visit Hilton.com and select “Use HHonors Points” when you search for this property.
If you have a larger family, trips to Disney Parks can feel unattainable. Park tickets alone can break the bank. When you throw in the cost of a hotel that is large enough to accommodate your family and the food to feed them all, it can be too much. Getting a hotel for FREE that comes with free breakfast and a full kitchen to cook some of your other meals, is absolutely huge! Based on our sample bookings, the hotel averages $247 per night after taxes, so you’ll be getting $1,235 of value out of this strategy.
