We stayed at the Hyatt Place Orlando Universal on points. We love this hotel because it’s close to Universal (one mile) and cheap on points (8,000 per night). Had we paid cash, the cost of the hotel averages about $165 per night.
The rooms are a huge plus for the Hyatt Place Orlando Universal. The standard rooms are very, very spacious. You can book a “Spacious King Guestroom” or “Two Double Beds Guestroom.” Both rooms have a sofa bed that could easily sleep two more kids.
Breakfast is free at the Hyatt Place Orlando Universal. It includes both hot and cold options. The highlight of the breakfast was probably the fresh fruit and yogurt bar. The hot option was typically some variation of a breakfast sandwich with egg, meat, and cheese on an English muffin. Honestly, breakfast sandwich wasn’t very good any of the days we were there. Breakfast could have been better if some bacon or sausage had been offered.
Location & Transportation
Free parking!! Also, the Hyatt Place Orlando Universal is close enough to walk, Uber, or take the complimentary shuttle. We usually took the shuttle in the morning to the parks. It runs on a schedule every 30-45 minutes in the morning and afternoon. We typically took a break from the parks after lunch and would walk or Uber back to the hotel. The Uber rides were about $5.
The pool is pretty basic. It can be a nice afternoon break for the kids, but it’s nothing to write home about.
Stay on Points
As we’ve mentioned the hotel runs 8,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points per night. You can get 50,000 points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. And, they waive the annual fee in the first year. This card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards which can be transferred directly to travel partners like Hyatt, JetBlue and Southwest Airlines.
If you decide to get this card and use our referral link, Chase will give us some points too. We’ll be so grateful, we’ll get a tattoo with your initials. (Is henna ok?)
