From July through September, the Chase Freedom 5% cash back bonus category includes gas stations, Lyft, and Walgreens. Here are three ways to use these bonus categories to save on Disney gift cards.
Disney Gift Cards at Walgreens
Walgreens sells Disney gift in store. You can get 5% cash back on up to $1,500 with the Chase Freedom, so you could purchase $1,500 in Disney gift cards and save $75. Pretty easy.
Disney Gift Cards at Walgreens + CUR Strategy
If you carry one of the Chase Ultimate Rewards cards with an annual fee, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, the points can be worth twice as much. You can transfer you Chase Freedom points into your Chase Sapphire Preferred and onto to travel partners like Southwest Airlines and Hyatt.
If you purchase $1,500 in Disney gift cards, you’ll have 7,500 Ultimate Rewards. These can be worth as much as $150, depending on how you use them.
Visa Gift Cards at Walgreens + Swagbucks Strategy at Best Buy
Walgreens sells variable load Visa gift cards in store with values up to $500. While they have a $5.95 activation fee, you’ll save 5% ($25 or 2,500 URs) with your Chase Freedom.
You could then take your Visa gift cards to Best Buy and purchase Disney gift cards with the Swagbucks Strategy. In this scenario, you’ll be able to purchase $500 in Disney gift cards and also earn $60 in Swagbucks and at least $5 in Best Buy Rewards.
NOTE: There are reports that some Walgreens won’t sell Visa gift cards when you’re paying with a credit card. YMMV.
The no annual fee Chase Freedom earns 5% cash back in rotating bonus categories each quarter on up to $1,500 spent. It earns 1% on everything else.
Plus, the card comes with a $150 sign up bonus after you spend $500 in the first three months. You also get $25 more if you add an authorized user who makes at least purchase.
If you apply for the Chase Freedom, we’d love for you to do it with that referral link. You get the same deal but Chase gives us some bonus point too. You’ll be helping us toward our next Disney vacation!
