Chase is offering a 10% discount on Best Buy gift cards when you pay with Chase Ultimate Rewards. This is an intriguing offer because you can use Best Buy gift cards to purchase Disney gift cards. And, you can use Disney gift cards to purchase park tickets. It would be a new way to buy Disney tickets using points.
Best Ways to Use Ultimate Rewards at Disney Parks
But, is it worth it? Let’s take a look at your options for using your points. Here are the best ways to use Ultimate Rewards at Disney Parks. This is strictly based on the value you get per point.
1) Stay at a Hyatt Hotel
2 Cents Per Point
If you have any of the CUR cards with an annual fee, you can transfer your points to Hyatt. There are some great hotels around Disney World and Disneyland we feature on our Top 10 lists. In most cases, you’ll get around two cents per point in value.
2) Fly Southwest
1.6 Cents Per Point
Similar to the Hyatt example, you can transfer points to Southwest Airlines. When you book with Southwest, the cost in points is tied to the actual cost of the flight. You’ll normally get about 1.6 cents per point in value.
3) Disney Vacation Package with Sapphire Reserve
1.5 Cents Per Point
One of the perks of the Sapphire Reserve is that you can book travel through Chase and get a value of 1.5 cents per point. This includes Disney vacation packages, which is a great way to get park tickets on points.
4) Disney Vacation Package with Sapphire Preferred
1.25 Cents Per Point
This one is just like the Sapphire Reserve example. Except, the Sapphire Preferred has a lower annual fee so you get less value per point on Disney vacation packages. In this case, you’ll get 1.25 cents per point.
5) Best Buy Gift Cards for Disney Tickets
1.11 Cents Per Point
Chase offers several denominations of Best Buy gift cards. The largest is $100, but you can also buy multiples of them. When you purchase a $100 Best Buy gift card for 9,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards, you’re effectively getting 1.11 cents per point in value.
If all you need is park tickets or Disney gift cards to renew your annual pass, this might be the way to go.
We found this offer on the home page on all of our Ultimate Rewards accounts, so we believe it’s universally available. We tried to look for ways that we could pay cash to purchase the gift cards and save our points. It doesn’t appear that there is one, although let us know if you find a way.
Other Ways to Buy Disney Tickets Using Points
Most credit card rewards programs allow you to redeem points on travel purchases which does not include park t. This is the biggest challenge with buying Disney park tickets on points. The purchase doesn’t code as a travel category when you buy them through Disney.
As a work around, people purchase Disney World tickets at Undercover Tourist. It’s known to code as a travel purchase. The most common credit cards people use for this option is the Venture Card from Capital One or the Barclaycard Arrival Plus.
