Have you ever thought about travelling to Disney World during a major holiday only to see the hotel prices and gasp. That’s not an exaggeration, I’m booking a short trip around New Year’s and the prices look like this:
Even just a few nights this time of year can become cost-prohibitive for many families.
Saving on a Disney Vacation During the Holidays
One way to save when prices are at their highest is using hotel points that have a fixed award chart. Some hotels like Hyatt, for example, charge a fixed price in points for each hotel year-round. So, if a hotel like the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress costs 12,000 points per night, then it costs that amount every night they have availability.
- Stay at a hotel with fixed price on points.
I just booked three nights around New Year’s and would have paid $1,093.52 if we’d paid cash. Instead, I only paid 36,000 points.
Earning the Points You Need
One of my favorite ways to earn points quickly is with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. You get a 60,000 point sign up bonus that you can transfer to Hyatt, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, United Airlines and other travel partners. The points are really valuable and the flexibility in your options to redeem them with so many travel partners makes the Chase Sapphire Preferred one of the best rewards cards you can get.
If you decide to apply, consider using our link. You get the same great deal and we get some points for pointing you in the right direction. (Thanks!)
P.S. We just added our second Chase Sapphire Preferred to get our 60,000 point sign up bonus. You’ll love how much it will save you.
