The first quarter of 2018 includes some great ways of saving on Disney gift cards with Chase Freedom. We’re going to highlight three options in this post. You could save over 10% with all of them.
The Chase Freedom is one of our favorite no annual fee cards. You earn 5 points per dollar in rotating quarterly bonus categories. This is capped at $1,500 spent and you earn 1 point per dollar on everything else.
In the first quarter of 2018, you’ll earn 5X on gas, internet, cable, phone services, and anything you can purchase with mobile payment. This gives you so many ways to earn tons of points!
Option 1: Chase Pay at Best Buy
Best Buy My Rewards – Best Buy sells Disney gift cards at face value. But, they also give Best Buy My Rewards on gift card purchases. These are worth another 1%-2.5%, depending on your status in the program. And, they can be used to purchase more Disney gift cards.
Chase Ultimate Rewards – In this scenario, you’ll earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards on up to $1,500 in Disney gift cards. Depending on how you redeem them, CURs can be worth up to two cents each. This means you’re earning up to an additional 10% in rewards points.
Chase Pay – Best Buy accepts Chase Pay in-store. Since the Freedom is a Chase card, using Chase Pay as your mobile payment option probably makes the most sense.
Option 2: Fuel Points at Grocery Stores
Fuel Points – Most grocery stores have a fuel points program. Typically they offer 2x fuel points on gift card purchases. In many cases, they’ll run specials and give 4X fuel points. 1,000 points gets you $1 off per gallon of gas up to 35 gallons pumped at a single fill up.
Chase Ultimate Rewards – In each of these options, you’ll earn 5 points per dollar on up to $1,500 spent for using a mobile payment option.
Mobile Payment – Most grocery stores accept mobile payment options. This means you can not only get tons of points on Disney gift cards this quarter using your phone to pay, but you could also earn tons of points on your groceries as well.
Option 3: Walmart Gift Cards at Sam’s Club
Walmart Gift Cards at Sam’s Club – First, you’ll purchase Walmart gift cards online using Chase Pay. Then, you’ll use them to purchase discounted Disney gift cards at Sam’s Club. Sam’s sells $500 Disney gift cards for $484.98, a 3% discount. And, they allow you to use Walmart gift cards to buy them since Sam’s and Walmart are owned by the same company.
Chase Pay – By purchasing the Walmart gift cards online using Chase Pay, you’ll earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards. For whatever reason, Walmart does not accept Chase Pay in-store but does take it online (click the “More” option at check out in the payment section).
All three of these options are great for the right person. The Best Buy option is probably the simplest but potentially the least valuable. The fuel point option at grocery stores could be tremendously valuable to someone who drive a Hummer or has another reason for purchasing tons of gas. Finally, the Walmart/Sam’s Club option requires a Sam’s Club membership but offers the most immediate cash discount.
