The Hyatt Hotel We Immediately Booked After the Category Change Announcement

Earlier this week we reported on the upcoming category changes to Hyatt hotels that takes effect March 18th. While there is some great news like the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress near Disney Springs going from 15,000 points per night to 12,000, there’s also some bad news. The most disappointing to us is the Hyatt House Across from Universal Orlando going from 8,000 points to 12,000 points.

Hyatt lets you book hotels 13 months in advance, so we went ahead and booked a trip for President’s Day week 2020. When you book on points, it’s a refundable booking, so we could always cancel and get our points back but I doubt we will.

Here are 7 reasons why we love the Hyatt House Across from Universal Orlando.

1) Huge Rooms on Points

You can book a 527 square-foot room with two queen beds and sofa bed on points. For our family, we often feel a bit claustrophobic in standard rooms. Getting a room this big on our vacation gives everyone room to spread out.

2) Free Breakfast

We loaded up each day on a pretty great free breakfast. This probably saved our family $30-$40 every day.

3) Full Kitchen

We ordered groceries from Amazon Prime Now and made lunch in our room everyday, only eating out for dinners.

4) New Hotel

The hotel opened in the summer of 2018, so everything is still crisp and new.

5) Walking Distance to Universal

It’s a one mile walk to Universal CityWalk, or you can take the free shuttle. Either way, the Hyatt House Across from Universal is conveniently located for your Universal Orlando vacation.

6) Great Pool & Bar Area

For an economical hotel, the Hyatt House has a great pool and outdoor bar area. It’s not a resort-style pool, but it’s nice enough to make you feel like you’re on vacation.

7) Cheap On Points

Until March 18th, you can book the Hyatt House Across from Universal Orlando for only 8,000 points.

You can either transfer them from Chase Ultimate Rewards with a card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Or, you could use the points you’ve earned with your World of Hyatt Credit Card.
