Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando is running from February 1st to April 2nd. The celebration includes food, concerts, and a nightly parade. But, the real gem is the parade. It’s a great parade on it’s own with roughly a dozen floats, great music, and lots of energy. But the best part is that they give park guests a chance to ride the floats and throw beads to the crowd. It’s an absolute blast.
My wife and kids got on a float this past week and it was a toss-up between this and riding Hagrid’s as the highlight of the trip.
To ride a float, you need to use Universal Virtual Line system. Typically, reservations for the virtual line reservation system opens 2-3 hours before the parade itself. While I’m unsure of a maximum number of reservations, I was only able to reserve three spots.
In order to book a spot, go into your Universal Orlando app. Among the rotating headers is one for Mardi Gras. Then, you’ll see a “Parade” tab. Finally, click the “Mardi Gras Parade Float Riding” option and scroll down the Virtual Line Pass section.
This is the second time we’ve visited during Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras celebration, and I think it’s going to become a tradition.
