You can use Chase Ultimate Rewards to buy Universal Orlando tickets. But, you can also use Chase Ultimate Rewards to buy a Universal Orlando Annual Pass. And, since annual passes cost only just a little bit more than multi-day park tickets, this is a great deal to consider. Here’s how you do it:
You can’t directly purchase annual passes with points, so you have to start off purchasing park tickets and then upgrade to annual passes.
If you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred, you’ll get 1.25 cents per point toward the cost of the tickets. If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, you’ll get 1.5 cents per point toward the cost of the tickets.
You start off on the Ultimate Rewards website and select the travel icon.
Then, you’ll select the “Things to Do” icon and type “Orlando, Florida.” You have to select dates but they don’t matter.
One of the first options to show up is Universal Orlando Resort Theme Park Tickets. The price it shows is for the single day park ticket. But, when you select “Check Availability” it will show all the combinations of tickets up to five days.
If you’re goal is to get an annual pass, you’ll want to purchase a park ticket that costs just a little bit less than the annual pass you need.
Upgrade to Annual Passes
In our case, we bought some 3-day Park to Park tickets because the cost was just a little lower than the annual passes that fit our trip. Once you purchase the tickets, Chase will send you a voucher for your tickets. Under normal circumstances, you would take those to a kiosk near the Universal Orlando park gate to redeem for your tickets.
However, in this case, you’re upgrading to annual passes, so you need a person in ticketing. In our case, our off-site hotel had a Universal employee who sold tickets. We took our voucher to her and she exchanged our voucher for the annual pass we needed and charged us the modest difference. We were done in 5 minutes.
Using Chase Ultimate Rewards to Buy a Universal Orlando Annual Pass
We love this deal because the prices for annual passes are so close to the price of multi-day tickets. If you’re planning a long trip to Universal or might visit two or more times in the year, this is a great deal. Purchasing it on points makes it all the better.
