Vacation Kick Start

Pre Party

Orlando is a really long way from Seattle. When we travel to Walt Disney World from our home in the Pacific Northwest, we like to get there a full day early before we spend any time in the parks. We do this to acclimate to the time change, and rest after a long day of flying.

This past month, we spent the day before the parks resting at our hotel, but early that evening we ventured out to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for a fun night. Some drinks at our favorite Tiki bar, Trader Sam’s and a Dole Whip were the perfect way to kick off our vacation and put us in the Disney spirit.

Trader Sam’s

Trader Sam’s is our favorite bar at the Walt Disney World Resort. What?? Walt Disney World has bars?? They do.  And this one is awesome. The island atmosphere and attention to detail is unmatched. This takes Tiki Bar to a whole new level. It is worth noting that this is a small space, so it’s best to get there before it opens (4:00 pm). We got there right before 4 pm and found a table, no problem.

We could have stayed there all night. There is so much to look at and the waiters, waitresses, and bar tenders are so entertaining. They do thematic deliveries with certain drinks. I won’t ruin the surprise here, but let’s just say we were all really surprised when my husband received his Krakatoa Punch.

Dole Whip

After drinks and appetizers at Trader Sam’s, we headed outside to Pineapple Lanai, a quick service counter where you can get delicious Dole Whips…our favorite Disney dessert. We love Dole Whips. What we don’t like is waiting in really long lines for Dole Whips at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom. Pineapple Lanai is the perfect place to get Dole Whips. There was no line, and the setting was so tropical. A fitting end to our first day of vacation.

Disney Gift Cards

Our first night out was made possible by a Disney Gift Card. Y’all know we love us a Disney Gift Card. To read how we save big on our vacations by buying Disney Gift Cards at a discount, click here.
