World of Hyatt Credit Card Review

It’s the most exciting new credit card for Disney vacations. The new World of Hyatt Credit Card has a huge sign up bonus, amazing perks, and some fantastic hotels at Disney World and Disneyland. Here is our World of Hyatt credit card review.

Great Disney Hotels on Hyatt Points

Here are some of our favorite Hyatt hotels, what they cost in points, and about how much you’ll save by using points. This can help you put the sign up bonus and other perks into perspective.

Sign Up Bonus (Grade: A)

Your sign up bonus is worth about $1,000 which is amazing. You get 25,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first three months. You’ll get another 25,000 points after spending a total of $6,000 in the first six months for a total of 50,000 points. This is one of the best sign up bonuses out there and will save you a lot on your Disney vacation.

The $95 annual fee is not waived for the first year.

Sign Up Bonus 50,000 World of Hyatt Points
Value Per Point 2 cents
Value of Sign Up Bonus $1,200

Daily Spending (Grade: B+)

You’ll earn four points per dollar spent at Hyatt Hotels, which also includes meals and other purchases in the hotel. You’ll earn two points per dollar on dining, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit/commuting (taxis, ride shares, tolls & mass transit), and fitness club and gym memberships. You earn one point per dollar on everything else.

These are some pretty decent bonus categories. Even if you don’t spend a lot at Hyatt Hotels, you probably do spend some money at restaurants (which includes coffee shops), on gym memberships, and with local transit like tolls and ride share. Plus, the points are worth about two cents each, so you’re getting 4% per dollar spent on these bonus categories.

Category Points per Dollar Spent
Hyatt Hotels 4x
Dining, Flights, Local Transit & Gyms 2x
Everything Else 1x

Additional Perks (Grade: A++)

Annual Free Night – Each year, starting with you first anniversary, you get a free night in a Category 1-4 hotel with your annual fee. Category 1-4 hotels include all the Hyatt Hotels around Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Orlando, and the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach.

Second Annual Free Night – Each year (based on your cardmember anniversary date) that you spend $15,000, you get a second free night in a Category 1-4 hotel. This is in addition to all the points you’ll earn for spending that much money, which would be enough for a third free night in any of these hotels.

Discoverist Status – Just for having the World of Hyatt Credit Card, they’ll upgrade you to Discoverist status. This means you’ll get upgraded to a preferred room (usually a better view) if one is available. You’ll get late check out too, which can really come in handy on vacation.

Redeeming Points (Grade: C+)

Hyatt has great options for using your points around Disney World and Disneyland. But, Hyatt isn’t as big as Marriott, Hilton, or IHG, so your hotel options in other cities may be more limited. We’d give this a “B” if you were only using it for Disney vacations based on the hotels we listed at the beginning of this post.

Overall Grade: A-

The sign up bonus alone will get you 4 nights at some great Disney area hotels. Even with the $95 annual fee, that should save you $1,000 or more. Plus, you’ll get an automatic free night each year and a second if you spend $15k on the card. That’s potentially $500-$600 in perks every year. For us, the World of Hyatt Credit Card is too good to pass up. If you like these Hyatt Hotels for your Disney vacation, we think it’s a no-brainer.
